Over in Montauk, Robert McKinley, the designer behind Sant Ambroeus and Hudson’s Hotel Kinsley, is putting the finishing touches on an impeccably curated home called the McKinley Bungalow. Inside the concrete, low-slung home, painted in a muted volcanic tone, is mixture of new, found, and antique pieces: There are Floyd beds, Heath Ceramics, Phaidon cookbooks, Great Jones pots, cutting boards from a flea market in France, glasses from Sicily, vintage chairs in the style of Pierre Chapo. There’s a nook with a plump, ochre couch you just want to curl up on and bedrooms with crisp white sheets and rattan light fixtures. Greenery is abundant: cactI, palms, and monsteras, softening nooks and crannies with their earthy, terracotta-pot presence. Out of some windows, you can see the ocean. “There’s a Sicilian influence, a Middle Eastern influence, a Montauk influence,” explains McKinley. “We always get inspired by homes in the Mediterranean owned by global travelers.”

I first learned about the Catskills’ newest glamping destination, Treetopia, when I saw chef Moonlynn Tsai and actor Yin Chang on an idyllic weekend getaway there.
